Life History of Baghavan Guru Raghavendra Swamy - Series 5 - Vyasa Rajar

There was a place named Pannur near Cauvery river close to Karnataka. There were a elderly couple - Ramacharya and Seethamma who was living in that village and they were praying to God to give them the blessings for a child. For several years they did not had child and they were also becoming old. However they did not lost their faith and they kept praying to God.

One fine day, there was a saint named Brahma Theerthar who came to that village.  The couple met him and requested his blessings. He knew their problem and he told them that they will have 2 childrens, however they have to give him their first child to him. The couple agreed to this and got his blessings.

Few days later, as per the blessings of Brahma Theerthar, the couple delivered a baby boy. With-in few days, Brahma Theerthar came to them requesting for the baby. The couple as promised, happily gave the baby to Braha Theerthar.

he took the baby with him and named him as Vyasa rajar and took him to the cave near by. He took care of Vyasa rajar's growth and taught him all the slokas.
After certain age, Brahma Theerthar sent Vyasa rajar to Sri Padarayar for his Guru kula. As per the wish of Brahma Theerthar, Vyasa rajar went to the Guru kula and leart all the skills and returned back after 20+ years.

After this Vyasa Rajar took the sanyasa and looked after Sri madam. He had lot of diciples and few to name as Kanagadasar, Vijayendra theerthar, vadharajar and puranthara dasar. We can see each of them in detail later.  Vijayendra theerthar was one of the very blessed diciple because he has seen both Vyasa Rajar and Sri Sri Baghavan Raghavendra swamy. He was a diciple to Raghavendra Swamy's previous incarnation ( Vyasa Rajar) and he was also Parama Guru ( Guru's Guru) of Sri Raghavendara Swamy.

During his guru gula days, Patha rayar used to do a pooja on a daily basis. One day he asked Vyasa rajar to do the pooja. Vyasa rajar also went to the pooja room and when making arrangements he found a box locked. This box was there in that pooja room for long time and it was not able to be opened by anyone. Vyasa rajar open the box and took the gopala krishna status from that and he started to recite Keerthana on lord Krishna. Lord became very happy and he started to dance for the keerthana's. When this was happening, Patha rayar heard the keerthana and came into the room to see what is happening. When Patha rayar entered the room the status stopped dancing ( infact it is being said that the pose at which Lord Krishna stopped dancing was having right foot over the left which is not the right way as per Natya sasthra).

In another occasion, there were group of people who wanted to spoil the name of Vyasa rajar and they arranged a cook to add poison in the food that was being prepared to serve to lord during Moola Rama pooja. On that particular day, Vyasa Rajar also prepared the arrangements for Moola Rama Pooja and he gave the food to the lord ( Neivedyam). After which this food should be given as prashad to all the devotees who have gathered there. During this time, the cook felt bad about his act and informed Vyasa rajar about the poison in the food. However Vyasa Rajar ignored him and took the food which had poison in it. Nothing happened to Vyasa rajar and by this we can know that how much he was devoted to Lord. If we recall in Guru Raghavendra Swamy's 1st incarnation as Prahalad, we encountered similar poison situation.

Vyasa Rajar has also visited Thirumala several times and whenever he goes there, he prefers to go through his knees than his foot. This shows his bakthi towards lord Venkatesa. He spent close to 12 years in Thirumala doing Pooja's for Lord Venkatesa.

Also during Krishnadeva rayar's period, Vyasa Rajar was the guru in his kingdom. Due to previous sins that he made, he had a severe Dosha and this dosha will affect King on a certain amavasya day when he is sitting on the throne. Inorder to save the King Vyasa Rajar became the king for one day and he destroyed the dosha and saved the King.

Vyasa Rajar has also done several litrary works but unfortunately most of them are not available now. Vyasa Rajar went into brindavan near Nava brindavana which is being visited by several devotees.
